On the first and third Saturday of each month, farmers from Laura bring one or two truckloads of fresh produce to town. The sale starts at 10am on the basketball court in front of the College of the Marshall Islands, but its best to get there at least half an hour in advance or suffer standing in line for ages and perhaps even missing out on being able to buy some of the fresh treats. Offerings usually include bell peppers, leafy greens, sweet corn, papaya, bananas, pandanus fruit, eggplant, dikon, and, occasionally, tomatoes. The prices are fair and the socializing as you wait is fun.
A bonus is that set up next to the produce tables are cooking demonstrations. These are run by various groups, including the Seventh Day Adventists. The demonstrations include offers of free recipes and you can buy samples for lunch.
