Site creator Karen Earnshaw with husband Cary Evarts
This site is designed to explain, describe, tell tales, and, well, be everything we can make it to be to tell the incredible story of our home, the Marshall Islands.
We first sailed into Majuro on our yacht Seal on December 17, 1998. I am a British-born, Australian-trained journalist who works as a freelancer for a number of local companies, but mainly the Marshall Islands Journal. I was bestowed with Marshallese citizenship in 2009.
Cary is the Vice Commodore of the Mieco Beach Yacht Club and enjoys fishing in and around Majuro.
The creation of this web site began in 2005 as a DVD guide called On the Move in the Marshalls. In August 2014 the DVD was turned into a web site.
About the contents
It would not have been possible to create the site without a lot of input and images/videos donated by a range of people and organizations, to whom we say thank you. All the photos and videos are copyright and anyone wishing to republish should first contact me at karenyachtseal@gmail.com.
We thank all the photographers with images on this site, but especially Deo Keju, Garry Venus, and the Marshall Islands Journal, who have over the years allowed me to use their photos on this site.
