There are four main population centers in Namu Atoll: The islands of Namu, Majkin, Loen and Mae.

The Spanish expedition of Alvaro de Mendana made the first recorded sighting by Europeans of Namu Atoll on 17 September 1568.

Number of Islets: 54. Population RMI Census 2021: 525 (284 males, 241 females). Land Area: 2.42 square miles. Lagoon Area: 153.33 square miles. Namu yacht permit fee: $50. Namu Mayor: Kemilang Kabua Nitijela. Member: Tony Aiseia.
