Dar Cafe

This air-conditioned diner is well-loved by locals for breakfast and lunch. The menu includes a range of western and local food. Specialties include fresh fish and Marshallese foods such as breadfruit and pumpkin cooked in various ways. Good size servings. Don’t be surprised when the waitress sits at your table to discuss your options — it’s a delightful Marshallese custom. Conference Room: As well as the main cafe area, there is a private room available that can seat 20 or more. Location: Dar is on the oceanside road in Uliga. Rather than walk down the alley from the main road to get to Dar Cafe, we recommend you drive or catch a taxi (because of the possibility of dogs in the alley). Phone: Call 625-3174 and ask to speak to the restaurant.

Dining Out Ideas

Majuro has a tasty range of restaurants with an equally diverse price scale … American, Chinese, Japanese, Marshallese, Local Food Trucks and Sidewalk Barbecues. The Eating Out Button will show you the options.

The Final Years of Majuro

This is one of the great films about the Marshall Islands’ past, present and future. Created by a handful of young, inspired filmmakers, it gives a level of insight rarely achieved. — Karen Earnshaw

Marlin Burgers

When your husband catches a marlin, you end up with a lot of fishy flesh. My marlin burgers are a great way to use up a whole lot of that fish.

Toeak Bar

Good food with a fabulous view: That’s The Toeak Bar and Grill in Uliga. The restaurant and sports bar is on the fifth floor of the NAPA building, which is opposite the courthouse and, yes, there is an elevator to get you to the top floor.

Marine scientists are regular visitors to the Marshall Islands. Their specific research topics vary, but most choose the Marshalls because our reefs are so accessible … plus those that aren’t so accessible, on the remote outer islands, are truly unique.
