Have the ride of your life on a traditional outrigger canoe on Majuro lagoon! Staff at the Waan Aelõñ in Majel (Canoes of the Marshall Islands) program, better known as WAM (pronounced to rhyme with barn) will be happy to take you out on the water any time.

The cost is just $20 a person for one hour or $30 per person for two hours. The day rate (six hours) is $120 for two people. The media rate is $50 an hour.

To organize your sail, it’s best to call ahead on (692) 625-6123 or stop by the office next to the Marshall Islands Resort in Delap. They are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Remember that all voyages are dependent on weather conditions.

Life jackets are provided. Chances are you’ll get wet from spray, so wear comfortable, water-sports style clothing.

WAM is a great program which teaches youth who’ve slipped the gaps to build canoes as well basic English and math. It also has a Visitors Center, which is small, but worth checking out.
